How did the DCAA begin?

The DCAA was founded by Anthony Sansone in 1998 to repay the Cardinal for how it helped him with his career. The first Board was formed in 1998 and the association was incorporated in Wisconsin that year.

Who can become a member of the DCAA?

Anyone who currently or previously served as staff member of The Daily Cardinal can join.

Interested alums or students should register on this site to become a member.

Why should I pay DCAA dues?

Dues fund the operations of the DCAA including the newsletter, the web site, events, awards, fundraising efforts and simple administrative costs like postage, post office box rental and toll-free number. Additional funds are put into capital and scholarship funds for the Cardinal.

What are the DCAA's accomplishments?

The DCAA has held 5 events, distributed 27 awards, awarded 2 scholarships, raised almost $70,000 and purchased 6 computers, a printer, a digital camera, a telephone system and thousands in software over the past 6 years.

The DCAA seeks to build a greater sense of community among alumni and provide additional guidance and resources to the Cardinal and its staff. Details can be found on the Mission and Objectives page.

The current DCAA Board of Directors include 14 alumni and 1 staff member of The Daily Cardinal.

Can I become a board member?

Any alum of the Cardinal can apply to become a member of the Board. The Board requires a minimum of 13 members, with no maximum. Inquiries should be sent via email or through the Contact page (select the "Board Nominations" option) of the web site.

How can I help the DCAA?

The DCAA needs help with the services it provides students -- mentoring, job assistance, internship assistance -- and raising funds for the Cardinal.

What are the Daily Cardinal Alumni Awards?

For most of the first six years of the DCAA's existence, we have hosted an annual awards dinner at which we have honored the accomplishments and service of up to 9 alumni each year. Photos and biographies of prior award winners can be found on this web site.

Yes. The DCAA provides a single $1,000 Winner's Circle scholarship for students returning for another year at the Cardinal.
